Season 8 of Netflix’s Selling Sunset was released today, September 6, so we thought we’d take you through some of the reality TV show’s biggest fights and feuds. Buckle up.
Selling Sunset is beloved by Netflix users for its glitz and glamour and the fact the husbands are pretty easy on the eyes too. It follows real estate agents at the Oppenheim Group, headed up by brothers Jason and Brett Oppenheim.
Christine vs Chrishell was the original drama
When season one started in 2019, no one could have predicted the animosity between Christine Quinn and newbie Chrishell Stause. While the drama would continue until Christine’s exit in season five, we were first introduced to the dynamic in season one.
Shady remarks and biting comments eventually culminated in the mother of all confrontations in the season 1 finale. The fight itself came after Chrishell asked about Mary Bonnet’s relationship with now husband and boy toy, Romain Bonnet.
Christine ultimately dubbed her frenemy “two-faced”, “shady”, and a “crazy person” before Chrishell literally fled the argument.
The fight continued well into season two
Selling Sunset did not receive a reprieve from the drama the following season as Mary seemingly switched sides to Chrishells after bestie Christine questioned her relationship with now estranged ex-husband Christian Richard.
Christine dubbed her former friend an “idiot” before correcting herself to “[you] looked like an idiot.”
Romain kicked Davina out of his wedding
Ageless Mary has always been forced to combat nasty rumors and lies about her relationship with Romain, who is ten years her junior.
In season 3, Davina Portaz zeroed in on Mary’s engagement as she suggested that Romain’s diamond ring was fake. This got back to Mary’s arm candy, who decided to uninvite Davina from their wedding.
Unfortunately, Mary was unable to tell Davina poor Christine could jump in and stir the pot some more.
Romain and Davina’s relationship has never really recovered, with the latter telling fans on Instagram: “Nothing special. Like I said, once I flip the switch I flip it. I live my life and her hers. We have a totally different way of seeing things, life, and friend. To be clear not holding anything back at all but do not want anything else either. Hope this clarifies how I feel.”
Selling Sunset’s biggest argument was over a $75 million listing
As a real estate company, you might think that Jason Oppenheim would jump at the chance to sell a $75 million listing, though strangely, he was not.
The listing in question, owned by developer Adnan Sen, featured 10 bathrooms, a home cinema, a wine cellar, a gym, an enormous pool, and a guest house with two more bedrooms.
Jason didn’t want to take the property, claiming it wasn’t anything special and was overpriced, which caused quite the confrontation with Davina who passionately believed in it. Four years later, the property is still unsold.
The drama led to Christine Quinn’s dramatic exit
In season four, the ever-passionate Christine Quinn set her sights on Emma Hernan after she returned to the group so Christine could focus on being a new mum.
Christine soon accused the Emma-Leigh & Co founder of sleeping with her former fiance, something Emma firmly denied. The encounter was rather aggressive, with Christine banging on Emma’s car windows and hurling swear words.
Emma said that there was no overlap in their relationships with the mystery man, something the other cast members agreed with.
By the end of the season, Christine had packed her bags. She hasn’t been seen on the show since, and won’t be returning.
The Selling Sunset cast versus Chrissy Teigen
In 2020, Chrissy Teigen said what was on everyone’s minds as she questioned whether the brokers at the Oppenheim Group were actually qualified to sell houses.
“I will say, I look at LA real estate a lot and have never seen any of these people lol neither have our agents, who I have obsessively asked,” she wrote on Twitter.
A few cast members addressed the accusation, with Heather Rae El Moussa telling Access Hollywood: “She obviously has heard of us at this point so, I don’t know where she’s being hiding under a rock. We all are very active real estate agents and we are very, very busy at the moment.”
Selling Sunset season six saw Chrishell in yet another blow
Nicole Young got a promotion in season six as she left the shadows of the Group to join the main cast. Unfortunately, she almost instantly clashed with Chrishell over a three-year-old listing that she claimed her co-worker took credit for her sales.
Chrishell even accused Nicole of being “cracked out” on drugs while they were on a cast trip.
